On your arrival at Hythe Pier you can jump on the world’s oldest electric train which will transport you to the pier entrance at Hythe.  You can then set sail on the Hythe Ferry and enjoy the sights and sounds of the bustling international trading port of Southampton.  Once in Southampton you are in one of the UK’s top 10 retail destinations with two indoor shopping centres.  Free buses will take you into the heart of the city (so for the transport mad little ones they can travel by train, ferry and bus all in one day!)  For those of  you who would rather avoid retail therapy there are many alternatives including the Maritime Museum just a few minutes from Town Quay or you can walk the walls of the city’s old town where there are over 90 listed buildings and 30 ancient monuments.
